Alfonso Iaccarino is the chef and owner of 2-Michelin Star Don Alfonso 1890 restaurant and hotel located in the centre of the charming and peaceful village of San’tAgata sui due Golfi in Sorrento, Italy. The Iaccarino family continues the art of sublimely catering for and hosting guests who wish to experience Mediterranean haute cuisine, accompanied by refined and courteous hospitality.
In 1890, Don Alfonso 1890 was opened when Alfonso Costanzo Iaccarino, the grandfather of the present Alfonso, returned to San’tAgata sui due Golfi after years of living in America and it succeeded to Alfonso and his wife Livia in 1973.
Alfonso’s menu is based on three principles: Mediterranean character, absolute quality in raw materials and modernity. The fresh ingredients come from the organic farm of the family “Le Peracciole” set up since 1990. Its olives, lemons, tomatoes, fruit, and vegetables are also supplied to the factory to be transformed into oil and other products, including excellent preserves.
His two sons, Ernesto and Mario Iaccarino, joined as restaurateurs of Don Alfonso 1890 in 1999. They are currently contributing to the creation of a restaurant consulting company, Don Alfonso Consulting & Distribution.
At Don Alfonso 1890, Alfonso and Ernesto Iaccarino’s kingdom where both father and son are the chefs resides on the other side of a hand-painted glass wall, which separates the kitchen from the area where mother and son, Livia and Mario Iaccarino, welcome their guests.
