Kobe beef is world renowned for its tenderness, unique flavour and great marbling score; and comes from the Tajima-gyu breed of cattle found in Japan’s Hyogo Prefecture. The feeling of the meat melting in the mouth is what really makes Kobe beef an outstanding culinary experience. Its prized value is also credited to the mysterious rearing techniques said to aid the meat’s delectable flavour and texture.
At Benihana, this top quality beef is offered in a variety of cuts and cooking methods, mainly using the restaurant’s teppan grills. Succulent cuts such as the Kobe Beef Tenderloin, Kobe Beef Striploin and the Saga Beef Ribeye Roll, to name a few are skillfully served sizzling in teppan grills by Benihana Chefs. The a la carte appetizers also boast of some amazing dishes such as the Kobe Tataki a wonderful Japanese method of preparing the Kobe fillet thinly sliced and lightly seared, served with a citrus-soy dipping sauce, Saga TarTar where handchopped Saga beef is served with scallions, shallots and spicy mayo and the Iwate Baterra, a Japanese boxed style sushi Iwate beef is served with gari, wasabi and shoyu.
Besides authentic and signature sushi rolls, Benihana offers an impressive menu and presents the Teppanyaki cooking style; where live stations in front of each table treat diners to a theatrical show that is quite unlike any other. For these unique “eatertainment” experiences, highly trained chefs showcase their skill by slicing and dicing with masterful precision, and juggling ingredients in spectacular fashion. Fresh lobster and succulent chicken sizzle before guests’ eyes, as well as tender cuts of beef cooked specifically to each individual’s liking. When the meat or seafood is perfectly done, seasoned vegetables combined with sesame seeds are added to the grill, to be expertly transferred to waiting plates when ready.
