Celebrate Songkran with special festive dining in riverside luxury
Edging the River of Kings, Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa offers a luxurious tropical oasis to celebrate Thailand’s famous New Year water festival with family and friends. Presenting a weekend of special festive dining, a Songkran Buffet Dinner at Riverside Terrace on Saturday 13th April 2013 and a Songkran Sunday Brunch at Trader Vic’s on Sunday 14th April 2013 will both feature the award winning cuisine of Chef Chumpol Jangprai – a celebrity TV chef who is also the Thai Culinary Director for Anantara’s worldwide properties.
Especially for Thailand’s 2013 New Year festival, Chef Chumpol is transforming Songkran weekend into a culinary journey of rich discovery at two of the resort’s distinctive riverside restaurants. Adding to the sense of tradition, a Buddha statue will be set up in each restaurant for guests who wish to pay their respects with a traditional water pouring ceremony.
On Saturday 13th April 2013 between 6:00 pm and 10:30 pm, Riverside Terrace restaurant invites guests to dine under the stars beside the enchanting Chao Phraya River. The special Songkran Buffet Dinner will feature some of the world’s most celebrated cuisines, alongside barbequed seafood and live cooking stations. Infusing an authentic Thai element, Chef Chumpol will be hosting his very own culinary station, offering made to order creations from his revered collection of recipes.Providing a feast for all the senses, classical Thai dancers will perform on a flame lit stage against a magical river backdrop, for a truly Thai cultural night. The Riverside Terrace Songkran Buffet Dinner is priced at THB 1,250++ per person.
The following day, on Sunday 14th April 2013, is a leisurely gourmet affair, with Trader Vic’s sensational Songkran Sunday Brunch between 11:30 am and 3:00 pm. Guests can choose to book a table in the air conditioned, Polynesian inspired dining room, or outside in the private tropical garden with a timeless river view. The extensive buffet of eastern and western culinary styles will take diners on an exciting culinary tour of Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Indian and Italian cuisines. Seafood lovers will be regaled by a fresh selection of coveted oysters, crabs and shrimps. Live cooking stations will deliver delicious individual choices. A unique highlight of this festive brunch is Chef Chumpol’s exclusive Thai recipes, including a chilled Khao Chae specialty that comprises rice soaked in jasmine scented water and topped with ice, served with an array of side dishes. The buffet concludes with a parade of desserts that range from pure decadence to traditional treats, for a mouthwatering experience from start to finish.
Trader Vic’s Sunday Brunch is priced at THB 1,400++ per person including a selection of juices, and THB 2,199++ per person including a selection of soft drinks, cocktails, draft beer, house wines and sparkling wine.
Prices are per person and subject to 10% service charge and 7% government tax. Children aged 4 – 12 years old dine for half price.
