Centara Grand Phratamnak Pattaya

A new addition to the Pattaya hotel scene is the Centara Grand Phratamnak. The location is tucked in a peaceful area of the Phratamnak hills. The beach (Jomtien beach the very north end) is nearby in a couple of steps across the street. The neighborhood is an upscale residential area with condominiums, hotels and houses. Right next to the hotel is a 7/11 and a bit further is a Lotus express.

At the approach from the car, the 8 story hotel looked very small compared to other Centara Grand I’ve been to. We arrive in the evening around 8pm. The grand lobby has a floor to ceiling height of 8 stories. The beautiful sweet voice of male soprano was filling the elegant space. It was a live singer standing at the center stage by a grand piano. The floors and the walls were finished with beautiful travertine stone. Most obviously are the 2 large fish tanks. The first one is at the lobby area, it contains many exotic fishes. The larger one is at the Oceana Restaurant where you can dine with the sharks.

We have made reservations to the Deluxe Family Ocean Vista. The suite was very well furnished with beautiful stones and even leather paneling on the walls. The living room is spacious with magnificent furniture and a large balcony. The sofa had a rare exotic texture very similar to a sting ray skin which gives a good feeling. The ergonomics of the sofa was very good making the use of the sofa a pleasure. There is a Nespresso coffee machine that makes having a gourmet coffee as easy as pressing a button. As it is a family suite, there is a small children’s room with bunk beds. There is also 46 inch TV screen in the children’s room.

The master bedroom was elegantly decorated with many types of surfaces. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had a Jacuzzi and a waterproof TV next to it. There are 2 large sliding doors that opens out to the expansive terrace which connects to the living room. It provides ocean views but there were some buildings blocking the views partially. Being a corner suite on the 6th floor, near by the sea and having large openings on 2 sides’ permits natural ventilation when all the doors are open.

The roof is where all the activities are: the fitness, the pool and Ruffino Italian restaurant. It is on the 8th floor, it provides expansive view of the sea. At night the ambiance completely change to a pool side bar with live DJs.

The Centara Grand Phratumnak is like a fine boutique hotel.  After staying here, we were impressed with the Deluxe Family Ocean Vista suite. The interiors are well decorated with premium materials and furnishing. The staffs are really enthusiastic to serve their guest. At the time we were there, they still haven’t finished the second phase which will be completed by year 2014. It will offer more facilities and more room types.

For now take advantage for their very low introductory rates.
