Centara Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce that Mr. Thirayuth Chirathivat, CEO of Centara Hotels & Resorts, has once again been recognized at Now Travel Asia Awards as “Asia’s Top Influential Person in Travel Business”. The sumptuous 2014 Gala Ceremony was held in Bangkok at Pathumwan Princess Hotel on December 4th and during the night, in addition to Mr Chirathivat’s award, Centara properties took the top prizes in two other important categories.
The timeless Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin won the honors as “Asia’s Top Heritage Hotel”, while the Centara Grand West Sands Resort & Villas in Phuket was recognized as “Asia’s Top Beach Hotel”.
Mr. Chirathivat was naturally thrilled that Centara hotels and resorts are gaining a reputation for excellence in service, ambience and presentation, although he is a little more modest when it comes to his own award. “If it wasn’t for the hard work and wonderful attitude of the staff at Centara, I would not appear to be doing such a good job,” he commented gratefully, acknowledging the staff effort that goes into supporting his role as CEO.
Mr Chirathivat has had a long and prestigious involvement in the travel industry and as CEO of Centara, has worked tirelessly to ensure that the company keeps growing and succeeding. This experienced manager of people and property has more than 25 years in the hotel management business, starting work in 1990 as an F&B Coordinator at the Hyatt Central Plaza in Bangkok – now the Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao. He was subsequently promoted to F&B Promotions Manager, and then to Project Development Manager. Prior to being appointed CEO of Centara Hotels & Resorts, Mr Chirathivat was Senior Vice President for Project Management, directly responsible for overseeing construction and renovation projects for the entire group of hotels.
Mr Chirathivat also holds a bachelor degree from Chulalongkorn University and Master’s in Food, Hotel and Tourism Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology in the US. He also attended the Program of Management Development and Executive Education at Harvard Business School and has undertaken management programmes at other well-known universities and institutes.
“I am aware of the high regard in which these awards are held throughout the industry and I’m very happy to be recognized here, but I’m particularly pleased that our hotels are gaining such a positive response from the experts at Now,” said Mr Chirathivat.
Now Travel Asia has come to award honors to hospitality and travel businesses in over 20 categories since they inaugurated the Awards in 2012, and they have received a tremendously positive industry and public response internationally. This year, the awards ceremony was designed to officially showcase the NOW Travel Asia Awards on the world stage and globally position the NOW Travel Asia magazine as Asia’s leading travel authority. The 2014 NOW Travel Asia Awards Gala Ceremony certainly succeeded in one aim; it was a huge social success, with over 200 leaders in the travel and hospitality industries from around Asia, including representatives from top hotel, spa, airlines, restaurant and entertainment venues all attending the event and networking. The ceremony gala also served a vote of confidence in the city of Bangkok as a true international leader in travel services as well as a world-class destination.
