Feast, Royal Orchid Sheraton

feast03

There are plenty of restaurants along the Chao Phraya River. Choosing where to dine depends on one’s preference. I always enjoy dining along the Chao Phraya River because I enjoy the nice breeze and great view of this magnificent river. I recently visited Feast (previous named ETC on the River) to try its dinner buffet. There was an option to sit outside on the terrace near the river but the weather was too humid, so we decided to go for main indoor dining area.

There were food both inside and outside on the terrace. What was most noticeable on the terrace was a wide selection of sumptuous cold seafood such as river prawns, sea prawns, crabs and oysters from the U.S. France and of course south of Thailand.

There was also a separate kitchen near the entrance to the main dining area that served made to order grilled steaks and seafood – beef tenderloin, pork, chicken, sea bass, prawns, etc.

The main dining area also offered very extensive international food. It was impossible to try everything.  However, a quick review of the food that evening as follows:

A nice selection of Japanese food – sushi rolls, hand rolls, sashimi.

Chilean sea bass (Thai people call it snow fish) with mushroom sauce was very nice. I was not sure if it’s a western dish or Chinese but it tasted good.

Whole Australian prime rib eye cut to your preference was tender and juicy, pink in the middle like it supposed to be. Also at the same counter, there was a huge bake sea bass, grilled whole chicken and plenty of grilled vegetables.

There were also some Indian dishes. The Lamb curry was very tender and tasty, just the right amount of spiciness.

For desserts: There was a chocolate fountain with fresh and dried fruits to dip and great variety of cakes and Thai desserts. While the cakes that I tried were all delicious, the mango sticky rice was the winner.  Ohh and there were a lot of ice cream selections too.
