About González Byass
González Byass is a family winery, founded in 1835, dedicated to making fine Sherries and brandies in Jerez, Spain. Well-known brands such as Tío Pepe Fino Sherry or Lepanto Brandy de Jerez, or vinous jewels like Matusalem or Apostoles have made González Byass one of Spain’s most recognized wine brands world-wide. Tradition, research and quality are the pillars of this winery which boasts nearly two centuries of experience.
Following in the same tradition, González Byass has, over the past 30 years, converted itself into a family of wineries, producing wine in some of Spain’s most famous wine producing regions; Bodegas Beronia (Rioja and Rueda), Cavas Vilarnau (Barcelona), Finca Constancia (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla), Finca Moncloa (Vino de la Tierra de Cádiz), Viñas del Vero (Somontano) and Paxo de Lusco (Rías Baixas). In each of these regions the family strives to make the best possible quality wines respecting the local terrior and traditions. Similarly the company has also expanded into the premium spirits business with brands such as The London No.1 and MOM Gins, Druide Vodka and Nomad Outland Whisky.
Boris Ivan Gonzalez Byass Worldwide Spirits Ambassador
Born in Poprad, Slovakia, Boris started his career in the bar industry whilst at University in Slovakia where he studied psicology working part time at different bars. In 2004 he moved to London and took a position at the Soho Hotel. After over two years he moved to Prague to take up the position as Assistant F&B manager at the Crowne Plaza. While in Prague, Boris studied the art of Japanese mixology and together with Stanislav Vadrna worked as external bar consultant in award winning bar, UFO.
In August 2008 he left Crowne Plaza to return to the Soho Hotel as the senior bartender before moving to Hush, Mayfair. At Hush Boris was part of the development team and won several awards for molecular mixology at the First Bar Show in Barcelona.
In 2010 he joined the Disaronno Mixing Star Competition and won 1st place in early 2011 representing the UK in the European Mixing star final. After a busy year, Boris left Hush bar and accepted a position in the newly opened Mint Hotel, Tower Bridge, where he ran the Sky Lounge bar. In April 2013 he joined Galvin at Windows team as Bar Manager managing a team of 15 people and running all aspects of the bar business at this world famous Michelin star restaurant.
Throughout his career he has worked in a private capacity working for A list celebrities including Jay Z and Robbie Williams and as a member of The Dan Aykroyd Star Tender Program. Boris joins Gonzalez Byass as International Brand Ambassador for the Spirits.
Joining the González Byass team in April 2016, mixologist and spirits expert, Boris Ivan is responsible for the promotion of the company’s premium spirit portfolio at a global level.
On his appointment Ivan said, “I am delighted to be working with such well-known and high quality brands and to be joining González Byass. We have a great opportunity to educate and inform trade professionals, and consumers, about our great quality drinks and I am especially looking forward to innovating and experimenting with the wide range of wine-based and spirits brands.”
