Ayu a small, sleek fish native to many rivers, lakes and coastal waters of Japan is as Japanese as a cherry blossom. It is celebrated as being, when skewered and grilled over a fire, one of the tastiest of all river fish. As it has a distinctive sweet flavor with aromas of melon and cucumber, some say, Ayu is also known as sweet fish and remains a favorite in Japanese cuisine. To Japanese gourmands, the word Ayu conjures up images of summer, the countryside, and sweet aroma.
Menu highlights include AYU SHIOYAKI (Grilled Sweet Fish with Sea Salt, Served with Date Vinegar Dip), AYU NO ARAI (Ice Shocked Slice Sweet Fish Sashimi Served with Mustard Miso, Plum Sauce), AYU KABAYAKI DON (Grilled Sweet Fish with Soy Sauce, Arima Pepper Corn on Steam Rice Served with Clear Soup) and many other delectable dishes.
Chef Sawada at Shintaro will prepare a la carte menu featuring Ayu from Tuesday, July 3 until Monday, July 16 at lunch and dinner. Price starts from THB 520 to THB 980.
