Wine Evolution or Wine Revolution at THE BOATHOUSE PHUKET

The wine industry, in today’s fast-moving and highly competitive world, faces a dilemma in whether to remain true to centuries of wine making traditions or resort to innovative, more profitable methods which may damage wine quality. Boathouse by Montara is asking dinner guests to experiment and judge for themselves. Its flagship restaurant, Boathouse Wine & Grill, is hosting a uniquely interactive “Wine Evolution or Wine Revolution?” dinner on the private Sunset Deck overlooking Kata Beach on Friday, 28 March 2014 from 7.00 pm.

“This is a unique event very much in line with Boathouse Wine & Grill’s pioneering role in the wine service industry, not only in Thailand but also Southeast Asia,” said Mr. Santiago Lopez, Director at F&B at Boathouse by Montara. Boathouse Wine & Grill is a longtime recipient of numerous prestigious Wine Spectator Awards since 1995.  In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Boathouse by Montara has recently been rejuvenated and positioned as a versatile, vivacious 25-year-old person who will “treasure the past and sail into the future”.

“We therefore came up with this revolutionary concept rather than staging a regular wine dinner with a particular wine estate or a type of wine,” added Mr. Lopez. The interactive dinner, especially created by Executive Chef Bryan Burger, will transport diners on a culinary journey showcasing a unique menu creation, combining Boathouse’s classic elements and “youthful” specialties to be paired with traditional and modern wines, meticulously selected by Georges Ciret, Boathouse’s Wine Director with over 30 years of experience as sommelier to prestigious hotels worldwide.  Mr. Ciret will accompany diners on a vinous journey, back and forth in time, and to several wine regions of Italy, including Brunello and Barolo. “Anchovy, Tomato Essence and Crackers with Scallop Tartar”; “Veal Cheek Braised in Asian Spices”; “Wagyu Striploin and Oxtail with Heirloom Carrots and Jus” are just some of the dishes on offer at the “Wine Evolution or Wine Revolution?” dinner at Baht 2,900++ or Baht 3,413  nett per person inclusive of Champagne cocktail reception.
