Yamazato celebrates classic Japanese love story

Yamazato, the award-winning signature Japanese restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok, is celebrating the Tanabata Festival with Gozen lunch and Kaiseki dinner menus created exclusively by Master Chef Shigeru Hagiwara.

Tanabata celebrates a Japanese love story about the weaving princess Orihime and her love for Hikoboshi. Legend states that Orihime and Hikoboshi may only meet once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. Yamazato brings these legendary characters together from 29 June to 7 July 2014 with celebration Kaiseki and Gozen menus.

The Gozen lunch menu, priced at 800 Baht ++ per person, is an ideal choice for social and business occasions. The menu’s second platter features a grilled dish comprising cutlass fish with citrus miso, pickled Japanese ginger and steamed seasonal potatoes and a tempura dish of shrimp, bensasi goatfish and vegetables. The seven-course Kaiseki dinner menu, priced at 3,000 Baht ++ per person, is a traditional feast fit for any princess and includes a grilled dish of kamo eggplant, duck, cutlass fish, edamame, elingi mushroom, Japanese ginger offspring and spicy leek miso sauce,  followed by the main dish of  deep-fried alfonsino, simmered tomato pepper, anchan medical herb and parsley.

“Japanese people love to celebrate the Tanabata Festival. This the time of year when people write down their hopes for the future and hang the paper on a special bamboo ‘wish tree’. We invite our guests to share in the celebrations of this very special love story,” says Shigeru Hagiwara.
