Bangkok, November 12, 2012. Affectionately known as “New York’s Jazz Diva”, Pucci Amanda Jhones takes to the stage of Bangkok’s premiere jazz venue, The Living Room for a much anticipated residency from December 6, 2012 – January 27, 2013.
Pucci Amanda Jhones has a well-deserved reputation among the jazz cognoscenti for her highly original voice which has been heard from Manhattan to LA, Las Vegas, Switzerland, Japan and Kuala Lumpur. In her native New York City, Pucci has performed at renowned jazz venues, Birdland, Blue Note, and the Lenox Lounge. Highlights during her extraordinary musical career have included opening for the legendary trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and Stanley Turrentine. Her latest CD, “Wild is the Wind,” features inspired takes of 12 timeless jazz standards, all enriched by the inimitable Pucci’s touch
Here in Bangkok, Pucci has chosen the intimate surroundings of The Living Room to captivate an appreciative audience with her enchanting voice. During her residency she will perform with the Randy Cannon Group. Described as “a pianist of formidable gifts, and consistently galvanizing rhythmic sensitivity” by jazz critic Leonard Feather of the Los Angeles Times, Randy Cannon’s performances are nothing short of breathtaking. The masterful pianist’s mesmerizing playing is complemented by Erik Hargrove on drums, a talented American musician who toured the world with the late great James Brown, and by Thailand’s leading bass player, Therdsak Wongvichien.
