Bangkok – January 2012 – ‘Seki Aji’ and ‘Seki Saba’ or as known as horse mackerel and common mackerel, respectively, are caught by single-hook fishing in the waters of the Bungo Channel, where the waters of the Pacific Ocean and the Inland Sea converge dynamically. Seki Aji and Seki Saba are widely renowned for their premium standard and high quality. Seki Aji’ and ‘Seki Saba’ are best during November until March.

Chef Satoshi Sawada of Shintaro has created various menus from the Seki fish, including Kibinago No Onsalad (Fried Blue Sprat and ‘Sea Grape’ Seaweed Salad with Creamy Sesame Dressing), Sashimi Moriawase (Assorted Mackerel Sashimi), MaiwashiMorokoshiFurai (Deep Fried Sardine with Almond and Corn Crumble, served with Yuzu Pepper Tattar Sauce) and many other mouth-watering dishes. Price ranges from THB 600 to 3,700.
