BBH Asia brings Thai legend Rewat Buddhinan back to life

in new Johnnie Walker film using revolutionary film-making technology

Bangkok, April 9, 2013 – Creative advertising agency BBH has brought Thai legend Rewat Buddhinan back to life in a new film for Johnnie Walker using revolutionary film –making technology.

Along with the world’s best visual effects company The Mill and legendary director Joseph Kahn, the film is a breakthrough in making the first- of- its- kind advanced post – production and effects in real life film animation.

Rewat, the famed founder of the GMM Grammy, musician and icon in Thailand’s music industry died at the age of 48, leaving behind a legacy of innovation in Thai pop music.

Now, the new Johnnie Walker film, ‘Will You Keep Walking’ has brought Rewat back to life  -  featuring and talking to his audience as a life like  version of himself.

A known game changer of his time, Rewat embodies the Johnnie Walker ‘Keep Walking’ spirit as an example of someone who trusted his intuition, leading him to pursue his ideas and dreams with conviction.

BBH are the originators of Johnnie Walker’s ‘Keep Walking’ creative philosophy and are the agency behind iconic films such as ‘The Man Who Walked around the World’, ‘Yulu – Words of a Journey’ (China) and ‘Winter in Bangkok’ (Thailand)

Using state of the art technology, Rewat’s identity and true to life form was created from a 3D model – 120 separate expressions built cell by cell from pieces of old interviews, music videos, concert footage and high – resolution photographs.

The late Rewat’s producer and song- writer Nitipong Honak (Dee) was music and sound consultant on the film. Dee ensured nuances behind the words; tonality and delivery of voice were true to the authentic Rewat.

The success of the film is also due to the collaboration with the Rewat family who offered support and advice throughout production.

Said Johnny Tan, BBH Asia Executive Creative Director,  “Working together with unequivocally the best people in the business, we wanted to create not another commercial, but a film that hits people in the heart and the core of their soul. This is not a film about technology but one that allows everyone the honour of seeing and hearing a glimpse of a man who is so loved and revered in Thailand”.

Said Isaress Sundravorakul, Marketing Manager, Whisky, Diageo Moet Hennessy (Thailand), “We feel honoured to have brought the industry’s best and the family of the late Rewat Buddhinan together to work on what has proven to be a game changing film for Johnnie Walker. We hope this film will touch Thai people today and generations to come.”
