Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya

| January 15, 2014

My first time here was at the Grand opening party of Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya near the end of 2009. It was still the time when Grand openings were very Grand. The Centara team pulled off the most memorable grand opening of that year. With concert from Roberta Flack, a big buffet, they even had lobsters, not small pieces but the whole lobster. It ended with beautiful fireworks.

This time we made it back during the same period but 4 years apart. It did not change much, the trees off-course grew but everything else was well maintained. The architecture does resemble another place I’ve been to in the Bahamas called the “Atlantis”. This is one of the bigger seaside resorts in Pattaya about 500 rooms with a big water park. It can probably compare to be similar size to a Las Vegas resort which is very big. The Architecture and Landscape theme of the resort is “Lost World”. Think of the movie “Jurastic Park” it has that feel once you are in the resort. It does feel spectacular walking in the lobby, through the garden and water park.

Deluxe Family Residence

Our room was the Deluxe Family Residence; it was a corner suite on the south side of the building. There is the living room, children’s room, master bedroom and the terrace. The room was decorated like a safari camp, minimal, rustic but convenient. As it is a corner suite, the expansive terrace surrounds the corner providing views to the west and south. There is no other place I rather be than here during the evening because you can catch the sunset. On the south side of the terrace in a distance you can see north, central and south Pattaya and the Pattaya bay.

It was very fortunate for us during the time we were at the Centara Grand Mirage, there was the Annual Fireworks Festival in Pattaya. Fireworks were lit from the Pattaya bay. We had front seat from our terrace to watch the show. Well it was not as close as we want it to be but still very nice.

The water park comprises of many pools: the lap pool, there is the lazy river, several waterfalls throughout the park with sliders, the main pool, the infinity edge pool, and more sliders. My son loved it, we could spend the whole day there. At the main pool there are schedule activities that guest can participate. There is one feature I like and haven’t seen it anywhere else is the 2 meter cliff jump.

The climate during that time was very cool and on high floors there is a never ending supply of wind from the sea and land. Air conditioning was never used during our stay. The reason why it took me 4 years to come back was very simple, they never had rooms available. It’s no doubt why it is always full; it has all the ingredient of a great resort.
