In Germany, each region has its own typical product; each region is inextricably linked with distinctive dishes. These distinct regional flavours and prize-winning specialties along with fabulous wines and excellent German beers will be yours to enjoy during the “Culinary Germany”, Dusit Thani Bangkok’s latest food extravaganza.
To be held Oct. 20-30, the gourmet event is top billed by visiting German Guest Chef Matthias Klauser, who will present delicious regional dishes from his native country at Pavilion Restaurant; “Schmankerl” cuisine at an exclusive “Gourmet & Wine Tent”; and “Feinschmecker Kueche” in the form of set menus at the award-winning D’Sens Restaurant.
Chef Matthias hails from Swabia, one of the seven regions in Bavaria. Noted for his love of regional as well as modern German cuisine, he uses only the finest regional products to create inspired cuisine. Having gained more than 30 years of culinary expertise from studies and work at award-winning establishments such as Hotel Bachmair am See in Rottach-Egern, Kronen-Hotel in Bad Liebenzell, Kaiserhof–Hotel Sonne in Nördlingen, as well as in his wine bar and restaurant in his hometown, Nördlingen, Chef Matthias has made a name for himself in gourmet German cuisine.

Throughout his illustrious culinary career, he has prepared meals and organized private events for several heads of state and industry; German dignitaries and celebrities such as Boris Becker and Thomas Gottschalk; and even the FC Bayern München, Germany’s most successful football club, to name a few.
His rich culinary experience and deliciously hearty food will be showcased at the Pavilion’s lunch and dinner buffet, in a special a la carte selection at the Dusit “Gourmet & Wine Tent” in front of the hotel, and at D”Sens Restaurant, where his exclusive gastronomic menus will be available for two days.

Top pro golfer to open new golf school at Dusit Thani’s DFit

Dusit Thani Bangkok has recently enlisted the expert services of one of the country’s leading top pro golfers to spearhead another initiative aimed at contributing further to the country’s ever burgeoning golf sports scene.
Thanyawat Somathat (Pro Jade), whose sterling credentials include a Golf Teaching Professional (0SGTF L/C) and Golf Senior Professional (TSPGA L/C 145 accreditation), is to head a new golf school, dubbed as the Dusit Thani Golf Academy and driving range.

The veteran pro golfer boasts 20 years of experience in teaching golf to all levels. Throughout his career, he has helped many individuals – Thai and expatriate, as well as adults and youngsters -- to learn the intricacies of the game, based on instruction and teaching methods shaped by his own personal golfing experiences.
Pro Jade was in fact partly responsible for transforming many young Thai’s and other individuals into professional golfers now playing in the “One Asia Tour”, “Asian Tour”, and “Thai PGA Tour”.
Before he decided to devote his life to golf teaching, Pro Jade has been a familiar face in professional golfing tournaments. He has played extensively on the seniors’ tour in Thailand, as well as the Singha Senior Championship.
With him at the helm of the Dusit Golf Academy, Dusit Thani Bangkok expects not only to further create interest in the already popular sport but also to further develop more potential golf superstars and help ensure the future of golf in the country.
The golf school, located on the 5th floor of DFit, will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week. Golf will cost only THB 2,000 per hour. Rental of golf balls will be THB50 for 40 balls while rental of golf club will cost THB 100 per club.

OPERATION SMILE THAILAND TO HOLD “FIGHT NIGHT!”
A Knock-Out Night for Charity

On Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 7:00pm until 11:00pm, Operation Smile Thailand will hold their first fundraiser, “Fight Night!” at the Dusit Thani Bangkok. Cocktails begin at 7:00 followed by dinner and live boxing at 8:00. Boxers will include people from the Bangkok business community as well as some local pro-am boxers, and video feeds will include legendary boxing matches from the last fifty years.
