ROYAL BALLROOM, MANDARIN ORIENTAL, BANGKOK

Gourmet One and Beverage One in collaboration with Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), are delighted to be a part of the first ever culinary cooperation and celebration, the “Bangkok Chef Charity Gala Dinner”, to be graciously presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.  This first of its kind gala will be staged on Monday, 27 July 2009 at 7.00 pm in the Royal Ballroom of Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok.
The 8-course dinner event showcases the culinary talents of a total of 16 top hotel Executive Chefs          (14 from Bangkok and two from Phuket)  who will pair up to prepare each of the eight courses including canapes, desserts and petits fours.
Tickets are @ Baht 7,500.- nett per seat  (for tables of 10), and @ Baht 25,000.- nett per seat for the Head Table.
Proceeds will go to Her Royal Highness’s Sai Jai Thai Foundation, with some going to benefit underprivileged children at the three schools in Doi Ang Khang, Chiang Mai:  Khob Dong, Ban Luang and Debsirin 9.                         
The following chefs have dedicated their time and efforts to participate in the upcoming event: Chef Stefano Artosin from Amanpuri Resort, Phuket; Chef Degan Septoadji Suprijadi from Banyan Tree Bangkok; Chef Michel Breliere from Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre, Central World; Chef Dietmar Spitzer from Conrad Hotel Bangkok; Chef Norbert Kostner from Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok; Chef Nicolas Schneller from Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok; Chef Lucas Glanville from Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok; Chef Philippe Derrien from Grand Millennium Sukhumvit; Chef Dieter Ruckenbauer from JW Marriott Bangkok; Chef  Philippe Gaudal from Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort; Chef  Philip Sedgwick from The Peninsula Bangkok; Chef Martin Faist from Plaza Athenee Bangkok, a Royal Meridien Hotel; Chef Anthony Dawson from Shangri-La Hotel
 
 
 
Bangkok; Chef Ramneek Lamba from Sheraton Grande Bangkok; and Chef Nam Nguyen from The Sukhothai Bangkok.
 
As regards entertainment, Australian-born violin virtuoso Jonathon Glonek and Thai pianist Usa Napawan will perform during the champagne cocktail reception in the foyer of the Royal Ballroom, and Krungthep Light Orchestra (www.klothailand.com) will provide background music during dinner.
 
At the conclusion of the dinner, there will be a total of five charity “chefs” auctions:  Four auctions of two chefs to prepare and serve a gourmet meal for six persons, and one four-man chef team to cook for 10 at the winner’s home or chosen venue.
 
Chef Norbert Kostner from Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, the most senior executive chef and head of the participating culinary brigade whose members hail from various backgrounds but with equally impressive track records, explained, “I feel privileged and honored to be part of the team cooking for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and for all the attending guests. Secondly, all the revenue generated will be donated to charity and to underprivileged schools in Northern Thailand, I am delighted to be a part of this culinary event so that we all can give back something to society. Thirdly, it is the first time so many chefs from so many hotels in Thailand join hands and demonstrate great friendship and solidarity, coming together to create this fabulous dinner event. I do not want to miss this unique opportunity and I very much want also to be part of the team!”
