Thavibu Gallery is pleased to present the art exhibition Happyland with new works by Thaweesak Srithongdee. The exhibition will feature a series of paintings on canvas as well as a video installation.
The artist says: “Happyland” is about the strong disapproval and offensiveness that dwells quietly inside of me. It is about the need for self-expression. It is also about freedom from society’s rules and the status quo of the real world we live in. It questions our existence and the space we occupy. That very space we express our inner self freely ----- does it truly exist?
Thaweesak Srithongdee is 39 years old and one of Thailand’s most internationally recognized artists. He is well known as a painter and illustrator, but has recently also ventured into video and producing sculptures. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Thailand and abroad. Including a residency at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum in Japan in 2005 and the Fukuoka Triennale.
