At basil during the month of October, highly respected Chef Thanida Amornvatin turns the focus of fresh seafood to delight lovers of Thai cuisine and the flavours of the ocean. 
 

Recognised as one of the country’s leading culinary talents and winner of many prestigious awards, Chef Thanida has taken taste and presentation of Thai food to new heights at basil, the awarding-winning Thai restaurant within the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, Bangkok. Her approach to Thai cuisine requires that dishes be made from the freshest, natural ingredients. At basil nothing comes premixed or prepackaged. Every day she uses aromatic herbs and spices to make curry pastes, marinades, and sauces.  
 

With her usual creative flair and attention to detail, Chef Thanida presents an enticing selection of seafood dishes. Of particular note is the goong mungkorn phad kra-tiem tone, stir-fried Phuket lobster with garlic and mushrooms. The pla hi-ma phad tao jiew or stir-fried snow fish with soy bean sauce is beautifully cooked to bring out the best in this exceptional and delicately flavoured fish.  
 

Northeastern Thai dishes also feature on the menu including larb pla tabtim, deep fired tilapia fish with spicy lime dressing and Thai herbs. The healthy dish is the perfect accompaniment to the gaeng som lai bua, a spicy sour soup with prawns and lotus stems.  
 

Diners can enjoy these exquisite seafood dishes and others by Chef Thanida at basil throughout October. The restaurant also has an excellent choice of wines available to compliment the inspired cuisine and a knowledgeable sommelier is on hand to offer expert advice on pairing wine with Thai food.  
 

basil is located on the 1st floor of Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit.  The theme of the décor is contemporary Thai style.  An interesting feature of the restaurant is a large communal table just inside the main entrance where guests can sit and enjoy a quick plate of noodles or a light one-dish meal. The stylish restaurant’s main area and three private air-conditioned rooms are ideal for exploring the a la carte selection with friends, family and business colleagues.
