Wat Phra Phutthabat Yasothorn is located in Tambon Hua Muang, Amphoe Mahachaichana, Yasothon. The temple is an installation of the sandstone Buddha's imprint, and sandstone Buddha image. It is written that the image was brought from Ayutthaya in the year 835. The tradition of worship the Buddha imprint had long been practiced in the ancient time since there was no Buddha statue. A story is told that the Buddha marked five of his foot prints especially up on the mountain and river bank. When people imitate the imprint for worshipping in many other places, they usually locate them around a river or on a hill.

The hall of this temple is magnificent. It is a contemporary style architecture. The building was mainly painted in white; however, as the day goes by and the sunlight changes, the reflection and the shadows of the sunlight give us different feelings and emotions. Inside of the hall stands the biggest white jade Buddha image in Thailand.
ตั้งอยู่ใน ต.หัวเมือง อ.มหาชัยชนะ เป็นที่ประดิษฐานรอยพระพุทธบาทจำหลักจากหิน ทราย พระพุทธรูปศิลาแลงปางนาคปรก หินทราย หน้าตักกว้างประมาณ 1 ศอก และ ศิลาจารึกหินทรายสูง 1 เมตร กว้าง 50 เซนติเมตร ซึ่งอักษรที่จารึกลบเลือนจนไม่ สามารถอ่านได้ มีบันทึกไว้ว่าพระมหาอุตตปัญญาและสิทธิวิหาริก (ผู้ศรัทธาหรือลูกศิษย์) นำมาจากกรุง ศรีอยุธยาเมื่อ พ.ศ.1378

ธรรมเนียมการบูชารอยพระพุทธบาทนั้น เป็นธรรมเนียมความเชื่อที่มีมาตั้งแต่โบราณ กาล เมื่อครั้งยังไม่มีการสร้างรูปเคารพแทนพระองค์พระพุทธเจ้าก็จะใช้การสร้างพระ พุทธบาทเป็นเครื่องหมายของการประสูติและการเสด็จจาริกไปในการแสดงธรรม มีตำนานเล่าว่าพระพุทธองค์ทรงประทับรอยพระบาทไว้ 5 แห่ง โดยเฉพาะริมฝั่งน้ำ และบนยอดเขา ดังนั้นเมื่อประชาชนจำลองรอยพระพุทธบาทมาไว้ในที่ต่างๆจึงนิยม ประดิษฐานไว้ใกล้ฝั่งน้ำ หรือยอดเขา

พระอุโบสถของวัดพระพุทธบาทสโสธร มีความงดงามตามแบบศิลปะประยุกต์ ซึ่งเน้น ความเรียบง่ายของสถาปัตยกรรม โดยเฉพาะการทาสีของอาคารส่วนใหญ่ในวัดด้วยสี ขาวล้วน ซึ่งเมื่อสะท้อนกับแสงแดดในเวลาต่างๆจะให้อารมณ์ความรู้สึกที่แตกต่างกันไป ภายในประดิษฐานพระประธานที่สร้างจากหยกขาวขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศไทย
