Snamluang Park

.Sanamluang Park is on of the largest open space park where many activities and ceremonies take place here from the pass until present day. The large open space is flexible to be used in many functions (concerts, festivals, royal ceremonies). These set of images exhibit the Thai kite festival. It has been serving the people of Bangkok on many activities and ceremonies for decades.
This is where the whole family can come and enjoy watching the world go by. The hot and humid climate of April is taken away by the breeze. The snake kite is to fly with its long tail.

The anticipation of the audience watching the kite competition. Kite (waw) chula (star shaped large kite) and waw pakpao (diamond shaped small kite) fight each other to win. It could get very aggressive once the kites get tied up together. The stings are coated with small bits of broken glass.
A short walk from Kao San road (back packers area) across the Ratchdamnern Klang road close to the National Gallery of Art, The National Theatre, National Museum, The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and the Chao Phraya River.

The Kite Festival is organized into 4 parts. The kite competition, leisure kite flying, Thai sports (takraw, etc.), and Thai music concerts. The kite competition is where two kites (one small the other large) fight each other to take the opposite kite down in its boundary or cut the kite loose. It is not a simple sport, the kite was prepared and flown in teams. It is a traditional sport where Thai art and culture take place..
Even when it is crowded there are room to relax right by the Grand Palace. Straw mat (sua) can be rented from the street food venders or free of charge when food is ordered. Considering this is the oldest part of the city with many ceremonies and events taken place at this same space, imagine how it was like in the pass.

Once relaxed and comfortable with the environment everything seems to be still even when it is not, such a nice moment. Yes keep on coming the cool breeze full of energy.
