Nearby Phra That Luang Vientiane, situated the Gate of Truimph built in 1962 or 1968. Instead of similarility to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the architecture was mainly influenced by Laotian style decorated with kinnari figures. When the history was told from two sides, there are two different issues on the purpose of builing this gate. On one side, it was a symbol of France’s influence on Laos, while on the other side; it was a dedication for those who fought for Laos’ independence from France.
