The Sukhothai, an iconic stand-alone hotel, has the unique advantage of being conveniently located in the heart of the city, close to the entertainment and shopping districts, embassies and tourist attractions. Yet it is a haven set amid six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and ponds. Once inside its classically elegant grounds, guests are quite literally far from the madding crowds.
Recapture the serenity of Thailand’s golden age, the hotel takes its inspiration and its name from Sukhothai, the kingdom’s first capital, which reigned from 1238 to 1376.
The Sukhothai shunned the high-rise trend when it opened in 1991. Instead of one lofty tower, simple pitched roofs cap an enclave of four-to-nine-storey buildings. In brass lamp holders, terra-cotta frames and wall hangings, the interiors repeat scenes from some of the nation’s greatest epics. The lobby courtyard’s reflection pond mirrors replicas of 13th century Sukhothai stupas.

A selection of rooms and suites to satisfy the most discerning guests, incorporate rich Thai fabrics, teakwood furnishings, impeccable detailing and luxurious bathrooms, high-speed wireless Internet. Superior Rooms offer all the luxury and style guests expect from The Sukhothai and are furnished with the artful use of teakwood and the finest Thai silks that recall the palatial salons of the ancient Thai capital of Sukhothai. Combined with modern facilities including remote-control Bang & Olufsen TV with satellite channels and pay per view movies, electronic safe, high quality minibar and tea & coffee-making facilities.
Deluxe Terrace Suites located on level two of The Terrace Wing overlooking the swimming pool with private balcony and sun lounges. Facilities include large flat screen LCD television, Bose CD player and a walk-through closet leading to a stunning teakwood floor bathroom, which features two basins and separate bathtub and jet shower. Apple iPod connections hardwired into the room’s sound system and TV.
Garden Suites have stunning décor with high ceilings and located at ground floor having private balconies facing the central courtyard and lily ponds. King-size bed with silk drapes giving a four-poster effect in an open-plan bedroom living area with two Thai-style sofas and the large flat screen LCD television able to swivel around 180 degrees to face either the bed or living area. All Deluxe rooms and Garden Suites have Apple iPods connections hardwired into the room’s sound system and TV.

The Sukhothai offers a wide selection of world class restaurants & bars. Colonnade all-day dining restaurant, the adjacent Zuk Bar, La Scala Italian restaurant, Pool Terrace Café & Bar offers health drinks and light menus, Chocolate Buffet every Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoon in the two Lobby Salons and Celadon offers award-winning traditional Thai cuisine in two pavilions and two spacious open-air terraces.
On-site leisure facilities include a fully-equipped spa, a health club with gym, Jacuzzi, sauna, steambath and whirlpool, a 25-metre swimming pool, a squash court, floodlit tennis court and a beauty salon. Open in October, the new Spa Botanica will encompass 7 treat rooms with en-suite steam room and Jacuzzis, located in a peaceful garden setting.
