Some Thais businessmen fly to Hong Kong just for its famous bowl of porridge or Peking duck because they think that those dishes are truly unique and worthwhile. Businessmen from abroad may head to Bangkok for the same reason when they discover the excellence of Vertigo at Banyan Tree Bangkok.
Located on the 61 floor, Vertigo is one of the landmarks of fine dining in Bangkok. The brand of Banyan Tree guarantees not only first class services but outstanding quality of food. The top floor of Banyan Tree offers a spectacular panoramic view of Bangkok, which always stunned the customers from the first glimpse. Without trying its food, witnessing the sunset at Vertigo is already an unforgettable experience. There are no words to describe the 35 minute time span when the sky incrementally changes its color from blue to orange then orange-pink to purple and finally turn into darkness revealing the sparkling lights of Bangkok at night.
With this unique ambience, Vertigo is a promising night out for those who treasure luxury lifestyle and great food. From the first glass of wine to the last course of dessert, the chef at Vertigo carefully design menus that suited every customers’ taste. On the night, we ordered Vertigo’s 9 Course Degustation Menu (3,500++ per person). The highlight of Vertigo’s 9 course menu was a tasty dish of marinated tuna tartar with avocado, tomato, sour cream and salmon roe served in a beautifully decorated plate. The unique texture of avocado enhanced the flavor tuna tartar and added a pleasant taste to the semi-raw fish, while the tomato and salmon roe gave another complex texture to every bite.
The main course was cardamom scented oven roasted rack of lamb served with green pea puree, veal reduction and Mediterranean vegetables. The medium rare rack of lamb was perfectly cook, very tender and juicy. In fact, the quality of lamb guarantees the success of this dish. A big feast came to an end with a perfect dessert—baked cheese cake served with carrot sherbet and orange passion fruit sauce. The baked cheese cake richness was cut by the sourness of passion fruit sauce yielded a perfect combination of sweet and sour. After spending an evening at Vertigo, we began to understand why some well to do people travel across countries just to have a wonderful meal.
