JW Marriot Bangkok’s Sunday brunch is another great deal in Bangkok. Although its ambience is not its strength, the quality and the variety of food are comparable to all top Sunday brunches in Bangkok. With an affordable price of 1,290 ++ bht., customers can enjoy top quality prime rib from Australia, lamb leg or chops (depending on the day) from New Zealand and foie gras from France. The Japanese food section is small but do not let it deceives you because the restaurant uses top grade fish for sushi and sashimi here. Alaskan King Crabs, oysters, prawns and other variety of cold seafood are also offered.
However, what distinguish Sunday brunch here from its competitors are the traditional thanksgiving meal of ham and turkey served with cranberry sauce and gravy. This is a plus for those who miss thanksgiving meal or those who wish thanksgiving comes early. Personally, I don’t like thanksgiving meal that much but ham and turkey here is quite delicious. The ham is juicy and the turkey breast is not dry like paper as it normally is.
Since the restaurant does not have too many live cooking station, chefs here usually cooked prepared items (like grilled beef tenderloin and lamb chops) in small portion, so customers can enjoy them fresh. The live cooking station here offers seared foie gras served with fruit sauce and a small pasta bar with various sauces. For real foie gras’ fans be mindful to instruct the chef there not too overcooked your foie gras. Caesar salad with prime rib and a bit of mashed potato already validated a great brunch but if you have more appetite try a piece of tender lamb leg to end your savory meal.
For dessert don’t forget to try its silky chocolate mouse and toffee Banoffee (a layer of crispy crumble toffee and banana chocolate mouse.
