Siam City hotel has been in Bangkok for quite some time one of the first in its area. It belongs to the Sukosol family, a famous artist family in Thailand. The owner is Kamala Sukosol, the diva singer who is known for famous song like "Live and Learn". As saying "a chip off the old block", her son and daughter are compulsive singers as well. Whether Noi Sukosol, a singer from a popular Thai band like "Phru", or Marisa Sukosol Nunphakdi, the owner of a beautiful song like Suk Wun Neung, both of them are well-knowned singers. Also Khun Marisa is the Vice President of The Siam City Hotels & Resorts Group consisted of Siam City Hotel in Bangkok, Siam Bay View Hotel and Siam Bay Shore Resort and Spa in Pattaya.
Located on Sri Ayudhya Road, the heart of the city in an area of government offices, close by is the Victory Monument, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chidlada Palace where the current king resides. On opposite side of the road is The Suan Pakkad Palace, a museum housed in a traditional Thai displaying fine arts and ancient artifacts from Thailand and other countries. Not far away, there is Phyathai BTS station, making your traveling very comfortable, not to be stuck in the traffic jam, or if you would like to go out of town, nearby, there is Victory Monument, Thailand's center of transportation, allowing you go around the outside provinces of Bangkok easily.
The Victory Monument or Victory Point is the popular meeting point for locals. Bangkok is full of shops and restaurants, here is the center of street side shop and street side eateries it gets really lively in the evenings after work hours. Everything sold here are on cheap side. It's one of the places to go for boat noodles. In Thai kwaiTaw Rua which is spicy beef or pork noodles sold on boats in the old days of Bangkok, when major transportation was on boat via rivers and canals (klongs). Now the boat is just a symbol where some still have boat on land and use the boat as a noodle preparation platform. A bowl will bring you down 15 Baht and they are good but becareful it is hot and spicy. A movie theater and many bars are located here.
If you are a big fan of Jazz and Blues, you should not miss "Saxophone Pub & Restaurant". The food is good but the live band is just what makes this place the "Blue Note" of Bangkok. When we were there "Hoochie Coochie" was playing rhythmic and vocal blues, and they were awesome. To catch them, they regularly play here on Friday and Saturday nights.
The hotel is divided into two parts: Ayuthaya Wing and Siam Wing. Ayuthaya Wing has just been renovated with classy wood furnishings and new amenities. The distinctive point of Siam Wing is the very large room. The family room is furnished with two queen size beds and still has space left for other activities. It is very appropriate for family with kids, without having to occupy 2 rooms or a suite. On our visit, we stay at one of the family rooms on Club Siam Floor (19th-23rd). The executive rooms do cost a bit more, but you get the executive service. Check in and out is done at Club Siam Floor and Lounge on the 21st floor, breakfast without lines or waiting is provided here as an option for executive guest only. Also they provide daily coffee, snacks and evening cocktails.
In addition, there is the Lotus Spa and various styles of restaurants to choose from in the hotel. Swimming pool and fitness are located on 6th floor, so you can enjoy exercise and city views the same time. After wandering around for whole day, coming back to take a healthy workout or a nice spa seems to be a good idea.
