Chef Stephen Wright is the newly appointed Executive Sous Chef at Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa.

A native Australian, Stephen graduated with certificates in commercial cookery from Victoria State Training Board and the renowned Box Hill Institute in Melbourne whilst training at some of Melbourne's renowned restaurants such as Circa and the Sofitel's Le Restaurant.

He achieved award-winning status by taking 1st place in the Victoria and Australasia heats of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs' Young Chef of the Year competition in 1997. He went on to take fourth place in the international competition.

Stephen has gained a thirst for fine cuisine, both Western and Asian with more than 16 year's experience in Australia and abroad. Having cooked in London at Michelin starred restaurants such as the 2* Michelin Capitol hotel and 1* Aubergine restaurant, he has a passion for fine cuisine which is entwined with his love of Asia and all its offerings through his extensive experience in Shanghai at the famous T8 restaurant, Bali's Legian hotel and the famous Equinox restaurant overlooking the skylines of Singapore.

Stephen's passion for different styles of cooking from around the world brings a wealth of experience to the kitchen operations at Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa which has a host of dining options including Trader Vic's, a Tropical Pacific Rim bar & restaurant, where he has implemented a new menu consisting of delicacies such as White miso glazed snow fish with sake mirin dressing, tataki of sesame crusted tuna with daikon radish carpaccio and coriander cress to the simple but delicious roasted foie gras with vine ripenened cherry tomato marmalade and balsamic reduction.
