Centara Launches New Hospitality Academy

In order to support the company’s huge expansion plan, Centara Hotels and Resorts has established Centara Academy, a hospitality training centre on 29th March last year. This is a joint venture by 3 organizations including Centara Hotels and Resorts, Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Labour and Rangsit University. The Centara Academy receives minimum high school (Mathayom 6) graduates to train for free for one year. The students receive an allowance and once they complete their training, they will be offered employment in one of the 13 properties of Centara Hotels and Resorts. The pilot project started in 2007 with an initial 37 students and more than 10 million baht investment.

Centara Academy aims at promoting hospitality careers and supplying skilled human resource to Centara’s expanding portfolio. The academy will select students who are keen on service and develop them to meet International standards. The students must attend the class 2 days a week and attend operations training at Centara Grand at CentralWorld for 4 days per week. They will receive 100 baht allowance per day per person. 2 meals per day are also available for them at the hotel’s Staff Canteen. Centara Hotels and Resorts spends approximately 250,000 baht per student per year. The academy will turn one year old on 29th March 2008. The first class, 37 students were selected and will complete the course on 30th April this year. They will be admitted to be staff of Centara Hotels & Resorts once they receive a certificate issued by Centara Hotels and Resorts, Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Labour and Rangsit University

The courses available at Centara Academy are as follows
1. Rooms Division Course
2. Food & Beverage Services Course
3. Kitchen Course

For the next class, Centara Hotels & Resorts has set aside more than 15 million baht for 60 students. The application and selection process will be completed on 30th April 2008. The class will start on 20th May onwards.

The expansion of Centara Hotels & Resorts will include Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket, a 2 billion baht project and a newly managed 5-star Serviced Apartment property located on Rajadamri Road called “Centara Grand Residence at Rajaprasong”
Centara Grand Beach Resort Phuket project is located on land of 41 rai in the North of Karon beach and have 2 billion baht of investment. This 5-star property consists of 262 guestrooms including one and two bedroom villas with private pool. Chino-Portuguese is the architecture design concept. The interior design will be contemporary-Thai. The facilities will include an International restaurant with 240 seats, Italian restaurant of 70 seats, Seafood and Asian Restaurant of 300 seats both in-door and alfresco dining, 4 swimming pools, Fitness Centre, Kids Club, Aerobic room, Jacuzzi, Tennis Court, Water Sport activities, Children Playground, Library, Beauty Salon, Pool Bar and 24 hours room service and a Spa Cenvaree. Apart from that, there are a variety of meeting rooms for a meeting or a seminar from 60 pax in classroom style set up or up to 600 pax in theatre style.

Centara Grand Residence at Rajaprasong consists of 132 condominiums and 98 suites and serviced apartments. Located on Soi Mahadlekluang 3, Rajdamri road, close to Rajdamri BTS skytrain station. This 5 star serviced apartment will be managed by Centara Hotels & Resorts. The facilities will include a Spa Cenvaree, 5 star spa, swimming pool, fitness centre, gardens and restaurant. The project is valued at nearly 2 billion baht and will be completed in October this year.

Early March, Centara Hotels & Resorts opened a newly managed resort, Centara Chaan Talay Resort & Villas Trat. The resort sits directly on a stunning white sand beach, surrounded by pristine nature and with wonderful sea views. In the first phase, the resort offers 44 spacious rooms, 8 of which are Nature Spa Suite Villas and Beach Front Spa Suites with a personal outdoor Jacuzzi. A host of dedicated facilities include: a beachside restaurant and bar, swimming pool, meditation hall for yoga, fitness centre, water sports, movies, library, tours and excursions, and a Centara signature Spa Cenvaree.
The construction of the innovative Centara Grand Mirage Resort Pattaya is now in full progress with the scheduled completion and opening on time.

This 5-star hotel is designed to be the first Truly Themed Hotel in Pattaya. This 18-storet hotel featuring 555 rooms. All rooms facing the ocean. This exciting ‘Jungle Theme’ hotel will offer a specialty restaurant, a trendy bar, Asian food court, all day dinning, versatile convention and meeting facilities, Spa Cenvaree, 3 swimming pools and water park and lots of facilities for all the family members. Accommodations offer our most extensive range of options including Family rooms with separate children sleeping den, Spa Suites and our new club concept. The investment on this hotel is 4 Billion Baht including land.
