The semi-al fresco atmosphere at the Author's lounge
If you dream about yourself sitting back sipping your favorite drink among an Edenic garden, keep in mind that this fantasy can actually turn to reality once you step in to the Authors' Lounge at the Oriental Bangkok.

Located at the original part of the Orientals Authors wing, the lounges translucent roofs provide a semi alfresco interior to the venue. Together with the white decoration amid greenish bamboo and palm trees, they enhance the place a little paradise to the all guests, making the lounge perfect for an afternoon tea with wide choices of light-meal or desserts and drinks.
We were introduced to the pastry chef Francois Laloue who prepared us four charming desserts offered at the venue. The first is the Tart C&C which is the milk chocolate ganache with peanut and caramel. This chocolate creation has very rich and sugary taste, makes it perfectly match with a cup of tea.

Then its time for a cake. Chef Francois presented us with the Rose. It is a very smooth cake of rose and lychee mousse, berries jelly and macaroon biscuit. The cake is not too sweet and contains a little sour taste from berries. The Rose goes perfectly when having it with the chamomile tea.

We were then introduced to an elegant creation called Moon. This looks like a big white chocolate ball with stuffs of creamy mascarpone, white chocolate ganache and sponge biscuit soaked with vanilla syrup. The cake is creamy rich and its paring drinks can be both Earl Gray tea and Dom Pérignon Champaign

Followed by the last dessert which is Praline mille feuille, it is puff pastry with caramel, praline cream and praline crisps. The nutty taste of the praline cream lies in every bite of this feuille. This pastry is perfect with a cup of hot chocolate or coffee.

Chef Francois says good ingredient is what makes a perfect cake or dessert while appearance comes second. Having both, the cake or dessert becomes simply impressive to those who have it. A nicely match drink is also considered what makes an absolute light-meal. A nice place is a plus which makes your afternoon a real pleasure and its there waiting for you at the Oriental Bangkoks Authors Lounge.
