The venue's exterior
Viva Vino Italian restaurant is located in Grand Mercure on Park Avenue Sukumvit 22. From the outside you can see the venue's interior and ambience through its surrounding glass wall which makes it one of the most attractive restaurant in this area. The restaurant is decorated with egg-shell white, earth tone color and layered frabric ceiling creating a cozy and casual atmosphere to all visitors. Unfortunately, we did not meet the head chef Gianfranco Pirrone because he is back to Italy at the time we visited the venue.
Interior decoration

We got started with Japanese fusion called "Italian sushi". It is the selection of Italian ingredients in the form of Japanese sushi served with balsamic sauce. In stead of Japanese rice and raw fish, we have the risotto and smoked salmon. This is very interesting but it is more Japanese thnn it is Italian.

Followed by Salmone Pirandello, Salmon steak in potato crust served with baked spinach and green pesto sauce spaghetti. The potato crust is a nice touch and gives a good crewy texture, that goes along well with baked spinach. This dish is recomended.

Then we tried the traditional brick oven baked dish called Quattro Stagioni or you can call it the four season which is nice and tasty thin crust pizza of four toppings including artichoke, black olives, salami and mushroom. It is cook perfectly, another dish we'd like to recomend.

However, from this point on, I think the venue also have some weak points. Le Polpette al sugo della Zia, a beef-pork ball in tomato sauce served with cheese Polenta is another menu we tried. It looks very nice but after tasting it, we think the meatball is a too dry and tasteless. Also, the Polenta should have more flavor.

Then we ordered Cozze al forno con formaggio e pesto. It is mussel with pesto sauce baked in traditional brick oven. The mussel is too dry and the topping was too salty. It was way over cooked.

We ended our dinner with three desserts: Torta di Mele, traditional Italian apple cake; Duetto, strawberry Panna Cotta and Tiramisu. The Tiramisu is recommended dessert which was one of the worse Tiramisu we had, there was simply no coffee.

Service is also what makes a place perfect. Here the service can be quite slow because you don't receive much attention from the waiters. I had to order my drink twice because first waiter completely forgot. Moreover, an appropriate recommendation on drinks should be made to customers prior to starting dinner. We were recomended nam matum (Bale fruit juice) but they brought us nam lamyai (Longan juice) which non of this would be very appropiate for an italian dinner. If you just want pizza this is the place, but if you want more maybe you should look somewhere else
