Mr David Cumming as General Manager of Amari Orchid Resort & Tower, Pattaya.

 
Mr Peter Henley, President & CEO of Amari Hotels and Resorts, has announced the appointment of Mr David Cumming as General Manager of Amari Orchid Resort & Tower, Pattaya.

Before joining Amari, Mr Cumming, a British national and graduate in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Administration, accumulated a wealth of experience in international hospitality management in Great Britain, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Oman and in Bangkok.

In 2004, he joined Amari Hotels and Resorts, as Executive Assistant Manager Food & Beverage Division and then Resident Manager in 2006 at the 5-star Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok.

Mr Cumming now oversees the smooth running of the very popular 5-star Amari Orchid Resort & Tower, Pattaya.

Interview
Here are a few words from him.

1. What is your new responsibility?
I am the General Manager of the Amari Orchid Resort and Tower Hotel in Pattaya. A 523 roomed hotel comprising of both the Garden Wing property and the 5 star deluxe Ocean Tower. The hotel also features the ever popular MANTRA restaurant and bar, the Ice bar, Henry J Beans Bar and Grill, Sivara Spa, two fantastic pools and large open luxury gardens.

2. What is your previous work?
7 years in the United Kingdom, 2 years in Egypt, 2 years in Oman and 3.5 years in Abu Dhabi with Intercontinental Hotels, followed by 5 years in Thailand (1 year with Imperial Hotels) and 4.5 years with the Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok. At the Amari Watergate Hotel I was the Resident Manager of the busy 569 room, 5 star hotel. I have an extensive background in Food and Beverage, Sales and Marketing plus Human Resources.

3. What is the key essence of this job?
The key essence of my job is to take care of all of our guests and fellow associates. We are in an industry of people, both inviting guest to our hotel to be served by our team. Ensuring all our guests are satisfied and that our team is happy and indeed developin I see as the main aspect of my day to day job..

4. Where do you like to go to spend your freetime? (restaurants, provinces,etc)
I enjoy to relax at home in my garden with my family. In addition, my hobbies are sport, wine and of course I enjoy wonderful food and trying new restaurants.
