Last year, we've seen large growth of rooftop restaurants. One of them was Zense. It is hard to imagine that there is such a place like this in such a public and easily accessed place such as Central World. It is located on top of Zen at Central world.
Zense is an elegant dining experience with a variety of spaces, the customers can choose from. Designed by Amata Lhupaiboon, one of Thailand's leading architect. It is kinky and playful with unusual steps and multi-level seating's covered with wood, steel and glass. The restaurant provides indoor and outdoor dining space. Most of the seats indoor has a nice view of Bangkok, very appropriate for a hot day.
We’d recommend the large outdoor terrace that offer many seating options; regular dining tables, more comfortable beanbags seating and beds which are hidden and can be very discreet. On the day we were there, though it was quite hot but it was also very windy providing a pleasing atmosphere to sit outside. The view is breath taking and we wonder why there hasn't been more these rooftop restaurants.
This is one of the places you do not have to argue with your friends or your company for food preferences because we can choose from Thai, Italian, Japanese and Indian dishes. The dishes are created by four main chefs from four different kitchens. Zenses is a gathering of four renowned Bangkok restaurants, Thai cuisine by White Cafe, Italian by Gianni, Japanese by The Kikusui, and Indian by Red.

We started with some quite unique cocktails and enjoyed the surrounding and witness the light changes from evening til night. There was a large list of drinks, cocktails, and wine from various regions of the world at reasonable prices.

It was nice to try the different types of food that are provided which started with Gindara Shio Yaki; a snow fish teriyaki. It was cook perfectly with a crispy and chewy skin, toped with tasty teriyaki sauce. Khaotod Nhaemsod, spicy minced pork and chewy pork skin and deep fried rice salad with an assortment of Thai herbs and vegetables, a good bridge from Japanese to Spicy Indian. We were presented with a rare Indian-Italian dish which is pasta with Indian herbs and mutton. The appearances look like a normal pasta dish but the taste is a mixture of Indian and Italian. The main course was 'Italian Duck Breast'. One of our discovery was Ebi To Hotate No Hakuuunrun, fried prawn and scallop topped with egg white foam, it's a warm soup or it can be serve chilled. It was a mixture of Japaneses flavor presented like a french dish, the soup was outstanding. For the dessert we enjoyed the Chocolate Fondant with vanilla ice cream and strawberrys.
One thing you should avoid is; not to leave too early or you will be faced with the Ratchadamri traffic jam. It is recommended to stay till the traffic gets better. You can tell, by just looking outside.
