Airlines in Thailand

The advantages of air travel are many; convenient, comfortable, time saving, safe, etc. In Thailand, there are many domestic airlines which can get you to the beautiful beaches down south to serene and peaceful mountains up north in an hour, less than getting from one end of Bangkok to the other by car in a rush hour. All domestic destinations in Thailand take about 1 hour flying time. Driving to these destinations, for example Phuket can take about 12 hours, Chiang Mai 11 hours.

Getting to Chiang Mai via the airplane can set you back somewhere between 1,000 -2,000 baht, based on one way trip. These price ranges apply to all popular destinations in Thailand, on a non holiday period (except Samui). So if you want to go to Phuket, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai the Air fare would be in the same range. Less popular destinations the fare can go up to around 3,000 baht. Koh Samui is a bit different, there are only 2 airlines that go there, the airfare can be a lot higher around 4,000 baht. The price difference between airlines to the same destination some times can be a big gap. All the airlines will get you to the same destination the differences would be the brand and services, some will provide food and drinks some won't. Some will smile at you like they mean it some will get by with a flat smile some won't.
