"VIE" an unfamiliar name for a hotel, but it is under MGallery Collection by familiar Accor Hotel group. The name “VIE” came from the owner’s name, Khun Vicha Poolvaraluck, a well known name in the cinema business. We were not familiar with this Hotel until it opened in December 2008.

Upon arriving at the hotel things started to come back, I was familiar with this property after all. When I was young, maybe 20 years ago, I use to hang out here, where VIE is right now. This place use to be the McKenna theatre. I use to come here when I was studying at Chula. The location is reformed into an interesting spacious two building hotel. The bigger Building is where all the rooms are.

Once we arrived we were served welcome drinks and chilled scented towers. Then we were escorted up to our "Deluxe suite King 1 Bed"(Half of the rooms here are suites). It is a corner suite with a separated living room and a bed room. It is a large suite, the living room can welcome 4-6 people on the sofa comfortably. The TV is 32" flat screen with some premium channels on each room, reception was ok. The room is facing Phayathai road(facing east), giving us the view of that area, and the pool 15 story below. As it is a corner unit, we were looking forward to see the south view which looks over to MBK, Siam area and further down to the Silom area, but the windows were obstructed with inoperable blinds. The room is very colorful decorated with dark wood furnishing. There are so many pillows in the living room about 20 which is fun for the kids.

The smaller building is a five-story building with the "Deck"(an open air restaurant) and a Cigar bar(at the time only available for private functions) and a nice sized swimming pool on the rooftop. What is special about this pool? The part facing Phayathai road and the sky train the pool wall is a huge ten-centimeter-thick glass. The ones you see at a whale tank in Sea World. That is the only thing preventing the water and the people in it to fall 5 story down. So, if  you look at this pool from the sky train passing by, you'd see people swimming in the glass tank. I think a lot of people saw us that day in the tank and we did not forget to wave.
