A couple of weeks ago I was privileged to be invited to a very interesting event at the Peninsula Spa. It was a training course by Espa. Espa is a luxury spa brand from the UK. Both The Peninsula spa and Espa is very well known in the spa world for its superb products and treatments. Managing the Peninsula spa and providing all the products and coming up with new treatments. Regular yearly training course are provide to their therapist. I was lucky enough to be able to seat-in at an afternoon in one of these courses.  I was surprised to see the course was not about how to massage and do treatments but more about the overall understanding of the clients conditions and the products usages for each condition. The course was conduct by Donna Fisher the accredit trainer from Espa. The people attending the courses were new therapist. Once they are done with the courses they will have to go through assessment in order to be able to treat clients. At one part we got to see the models face under the UV light. It shows the condition of the face, which part is dry which part is oily. With this tool the therapist can treat clients with confidence.

After the short course I was invited to try the new treatment called Mankind. They had the River Private Spa Suite ready for my treatment.  There are only 2 River Private Spa Suites I was very fortunate to have one all for myself.  The suite is very spacious with an large en-suite steam rain shower unit, a jacuzzi and a terrace over looking the gorgeous multi level linear pool stretching out to the Chaopraya river.  Usually having a treatment here, you are ask to come 45 minute before the actual treatment time to spend some time at the Jacuzzi or the steam to get your body ready for the treatment. 

Khun Dae my therapist started the treatment with, asking some questions to analyse my condition. "What are you concern off?" " What will you be doing after this?" "Are there any problem?" etc. She concluded I needed a very strong massage from my answers. The "Mankind" treatment is a combination of foot and back massage. She applied my condition with the standard Mankind treatment, making it a unique one.  The foot massage was gentle and relaxing. Oil was used to make it a more pleasurable one. I even fell asleep. The back massage was a mix of pleasure and pain. Khun Dae used her fingers hands and most of the time elbows to create continuous motions on my back. My back was in pain from a hard gym workout the same morning.  The treatment along with some back and arm stretch soothed and eased the pain.  It was a nice rounded treatment.  Very appropriate for an after sport relaxation.

After the treatment you are ask to relax in the relaxation lounge with preferred drinks and headphone of you preferred music.  In my case the suite was use for that propose. I had treatments here before, the standard of service, ambiance and treatments still remains highly recommended. The Mankind treatment was pleasurable, but it would be hard to beat the Peninsula signature treatment Ceremonies: Time.
