There are only few Mexican joints in Bangkok.  From all of them this is one of the more upscale place in terms of ambiance. Located on Sukhumvit soi 14, just a couple of steps from the Asoke BTS station. We went there one evening; the outside space was so nice with a water fountain and large trees, making a good over all ambiance. We took our seats outside even though it was a bit hot.

Los Cabos takes advantage of the old house that was there for more than 20 years and made minor adjustments. But it looks like it has been changed a lot because of the colorful new paint which gives it a charming presence. The contemporary Thai style house with pastel colors does make you feel like you’re in a hot tropical seaside place in South America.

As soon as we had our seats the friendly waitress recommended us to start with margaritas which after we ordered came to our tables really fast, even before we finished ordering. For starters we ordered Spicy beef nachos. Thin tortilla chips covered with tender shredded beef, red beans, jalapenos, sour cream, and cheddar cheese. It was a nice way to start a Mexican dinner.

We also ordered a combo platter that has beef tamale, chili relleno, and beef enchilada. It was served with rice and red beans. It looked great, but it all tasted similar because the large portion serve in such a small plate, everything was all mixed. There was a red sauce which was very sour and sharp makes everything taste even more the same. I think a larger plate with sauce on the side would be much more enjoyable.

Another big platter we got was the Fiesta Feast. We ordered the half portion it was still big, 3 can share this easily. It comes with a mesquite wood smoked pork ribs, grilled marinated margariti chicken, chicken mini tacos, and jalapino grilled shrimp skewers. It was served with corn on the cob, spicy fries, Mexican rice, and asparagus. Just reading this item from the menu makes my mouth water, I know it was going to be good. When it came to our table, it looked great. The grilled chicken and grilled shrimps were fine, but it had too much of the sharp sour red sauce again which made it less pleasing. The ribs were just falling off the bones. I don’t usually like this type of BBQ ribs, because it is always sweet. The ribs here are not sweet at all, maybe a little but in a good way. The mini tacos were filled with fillings. The fresh taco shell and ingredients were at its finest quality.

If you carve for Mexican this is a good place for ambiance and quality of food. But tell the waiter to have sauce on the side.

Sample Menu:
Spicy beef nachos half portion 175-
Combo platter that has beef tamale, chili relleno, and beef enchilada 375-
Fiesta Feast  half feast 650-
