There are many choices for Sunday brunches in Bangkok. You can find a whole bunch of them at five stars along the Chaopraya River and along Sukhumvit and Pleonchit area . And every venue is competing to do their best to offer the most for their guest. The Sunday brunch here is no different. Obviously the jazz is at very high quality to go along with it's wide varieties of food.

The Brunch at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is located on the first floor where 3 restaurants are located. The signature Italian restaurant “Rossini”, the Thai restaurant “Basil”, and the bar and lounge “Living Room”. The whole floor is converted to be the venue for the Brunch. The hall way and walk way including all the outlets becomes a display of mouth watering food from raw to cooked, from Asian to European, from pre-made to cooked when ordered. It’s a big gigantic offering of culinary delights under high ceiling and natural lighting from the sky light above. It’s food heaven. While being astonished by the setup, in the background we can hear attractive melodies from the living room. That’s when we were guided to our seat heading towards the jazz trio. Our seat were at the living room providing a nice view of the band.

After being seated, we ordered from the free flow bar some sparking wine. The free flow bar includes all the fruit juices, beer, cocktails and wines. We head of to explore closer what was offered at the buffet. I started with something light in small portions of many hors d'oeuvres; beef carpaccio with rockets, smoked salmon and salmon roe, pan seared tuna, etc. There were too many to try all of them. They were all appealing.

Then we dived into the seafood section. When I go to a buffet this large, I always ask the chef responsible for that section what he would recommend. He recommend the king crab and oysters which was what I had in mind. The king crab went well with a creamy sauce. The oysters were my favourite, they offered 2 types, one from Canada and the other from France. When it’s fresh like this, the best way to have it is without condiments. Close you eyes, think of the Canadian sea and you can smell it.

For the main course I had roast beef, lamb cutlets, beef/pepper sauce, and barbecue spare ribs all in small portions. It was all good but the ribs were just falling of the bones and had caramelized crust, I had to go back for more.

The last trip for this meal would have to end at the dessert stations which has a wide array of cakes and mouses. What caught my eyes was the crepes drenched in orange syrup and the varieties of ice cream and sherbets. And it wouldn’t be right not to have a little cheese cake to go with the coffee. The coffee I ordered was actually a cocktail the "Irish coffee". Many buffets and even cocktail bars would have a problem providing this because it requires a complicated process to make. Starting from burning the alcohol and making the caramelized sugar rim but they serve it here included with the buffet.

A whole afternoon could be spent at the Sunday Jazzy Brunch at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. Having a wide range of food from Thai, Indian, Chinese and western to choose from. While enjoying the top notch jazz and free flow wines.
