Trader vics has been offering Sunday brunches for Bangkok since the beginning when there weren’t many places for Sunday brunches. Now with more venues offering Sunday Brunches still it remains charming and competitive. 

Traders Vics is located by the Chaopraya River at the Bangkok Marriott Resort and Spa Bangkok. Don’t be mistaken with the JW Marriott or Marriott Courtyards which there are a couple of those in Bangkok. Trader Vics is an American restaurant chain focusing on Polynesian dishes and ambiance. Think of Hawaii thatch ceiling, rattan chairs, earth tone colors. 

For the food offered on Sunday brunch, there was not much focus on Polynesian, but it is more like an international favorites. There is a bit of Chinese, a bit of Indian, some Sushi, a lot of western and a huge selection of seafood. The chilled seafood is what I would go for first. There are many varieties, but the Maine lobsters, fresh French oysters are the best. I’m also a fan of raw food, a variety of marinated salmon, beef carpaccio were all good.  

At this point, decisions must be made to only get what you really want because there are too many food to choose from. I went with a gorgeous prime rib served at the table on a trolley. It was warm and juicy. 

For dessert, I went for the booze; Sangria, Mai-tai, bloody Mary, and many frozen fruit infused cocktails. All included with the buffet. I enjoyed coming here for the food, the ambiance and value. It is one of the few places you can get a Sunday brunch with alchoholic baverages for under 2,000 baht per person.
