DILMAH REAL HIGH TEA CHALLENGE THAILAND 2014

Two days of stiff competition, exceptional creativity and innovation in tea gastronomy and mixology resulted in the dynamic duo from Shangri-La Bangkok coming out on top.
The team from Shangri-La Bangkok consisting of Executive Pastry Chef Reinolf Moessl, and Ms. Wilai Tangprasertsuk, Team Leader of the Lobby Lounge, shared their visions by presenting a contemporary ‘Pink Royal’ themed high-tea, focusing on the unique Thai culture and incorporating royal elegance in every aspect from the elaborate tableware and flower decorations, to the well-thought out pairings and sophisticated plating of each dish and beverage.
Both Chef Reinolf and Khun Wilai were highly praised by all three judges for their harmonious matching of tea with food, and notable teamwork during the presentation. Their knowledge of tea was displayed in their well-thought out reasoning behind each pairing and concoction, as well as the overall flow of their presentation. Moreover, Judge Chef Bernd Uber also claimed that the brewing of the traditional loose leaf black tea was “one of the best in years.”
They winning pair will soon embark on a spectacular seven-day VIP tour of Sri Lanka, to personally experience the home of Dilmah, and will travel back to Sri Lanka in May 2015 to represent Thailand in the Dilmah Real High Tea Global Challenge.
