Sweet treats range from Mango pudding, Deep-fried sesame dumpling, Walnut cookie, Red bean “8” macaroon, Chinese pear with brown sugar soft cake, Glutinous rice dumplings filled with sesame paste, not to mention Lotus seed paste buns.
Contrasting savouries include: Barbequed pork pastry puffs, Seared Chinese turnip pudding with XO sauce, complemented by Ha Gau and Siu Mai.
Chinese Mandarin scones, enhanced with wolfberry-strawberry jam, lychee honey and the hotel’s unique clotted cream complete the divine teatime picture.
Lashings of hot or cold Chinese teas bring both their thirst-quenching properties and subtle aromas to the party. Between bites, guests are invited in to visit the kitchen for close encounters with the ongoing, expert preparations. The utilitarian, stainless steel chefs’ table seats six guests and the ambience of the room is in keeping with the kitchen, bringing added edge to the experience. Nevertheless, lustrous chinaware, silverware, lacquerware and linen infuse the occasion with Mei Jiang’s signature elegance.
