On Tuesday 19th February, 2013 from 18:30 hrs – 20:30 hrs, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit will host the Grand Opening and Cocktail Reception of a special

“BB Forever Art Exhibition at L’Appart. The unique photo exhibition celebrates the life of famous French actress, Brigitte Bardot, and was conceived in collaboration with journalist and writer Henry-Jean Servat. “BB Forever Art Exhibition at L’Appart” features a collection of 30 never-before-seen photos that trace Brigitte Bardot’s starlit career. The art exhibition will be held until 10th April 2013 at L’Appart.

Mr. Christophe L.M. Caron, Vice President of Sofitel South East Asia & India and General Manager of Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit, together with Khun Ying Chodchoy Soponpanich will preside over the opening night. The evening will begin with welcome cocktails in the lobby and live classic music from Pizzolla, a String Quartet band.Guests will then move to the chic rooftop venue will enjoy L’Appart on 32nd floor to enjoy music by Brigitte Bardot and a live opera performance, BB Forever Art Exhibition, drinks and gourmet light bites.

Following the success of last year in its hotels in New York, Chicago, Washington and Los Angeles, Sofitel Luxury Hotels is presenting the unique photo exhibition, BB Forever – Brigitte Bardot, la légende, across its eight properties in Asia this year. Conceived in collaboration with journalist and writer Henry-Jean Servat, the exhibition traces the life of the famous French actress.

For the first time in Asia, Sofitel Luxury Hotels will present this legendary exhibition to eight cities including Bangkok, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Macau, Manila, Mumbai and Saigon. Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit takes the honour of inaugurating this retrospective, dedicated to the internationally renowned actress’ exhibition starting from 19 February, 2013 followed by an opening in China at Sofitel Wanda Beijing on 14 March, 2013.

To launch in the tour, Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit offers a themed dinner at L’Appart with dishes inspired by the South of France. Special cocktails with the hint of St. Tropez will be served at the bars of L’Appart and Le Bar de l’Hôtel and a traditional classic French pastry Tarte Tropezienne will also be presented. Meanwhile, Sofitel Wanda Beijing will be offering special themed brunch at its newly renovated restaurant Héritage, as well as special cocktails created for the occasion in all its outlets.

BB Forever – Brigitte Bardot, la légende features an exclusive collection of close to 30 photos that trace her career, when becoming one of the leading figures of 20th Century cinema and being described as a “locomotive of women’s history”. Through never-before-seen snapshots, visitors can admire the different facets of the actress, who throughout her career distinguished herself through her beauty, spontaneity and carefree spirit, and whose personality led her to be regarded not only as a legend and sex symbol, but also as the embodiment of women’s liberation.

Moreover, this French Icon represents elegance as well as the French culture that Sofitel holds so dear. Since its repositioning, Sofitel has strived to promote French heritage through events related to art, gastronomy, literature and music.

 

Brigitte Bardot French film actress Brigitte Bardot was a feminine figure of the 1950s to 1970s, an international star, as well as a muse for many artists of the period. Both baby-doll and femme fatale, she worked with the most renowned film-makers in the industry, embodying lightness and sensuality through the characters she played, and quickly became a sex symbol and international film star – a French Marilyn Monroe. With 48 films in a 21-year acting career to her credit, Brigitte Bardot, also known by the initials “BB”, is one of the most famous French artists in the world. She ended her acting career in 1973 to devote herself to animal rights, notably in establishing the Brigitte Bardot Foundation.

 Henry-Jean Servat A French writer and journalist living and working in Paris, he has published over 35 works on cinema, actors, and history through France’s most recognized publishers. Several of these works have been translated into English. He is a regular host on various television shows on France 2 and France 3. Henri-Jean Servat is also an author and the co-director of documentaries on cinema.
