Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya

| October 21, 2011

Hard Rock is well known for their restaurant that serves American food with a live rock band performance. There are also many hotels and resorts under the same name.  In Asia there are only a few, the one in Pattaya is the first. They just celebrated their 11th year anniversary in October 2012.

At the lobby you can immediately see show cases of costumes, guitars and albums from famous rock stars, from Elvis, Beatles, Elton John, Princes to Madonna. These items of memorabilia are worth a fortune.  It is like coming to a museum.

The check-in was a breeze. We reserved the composer suite which was part of the Kings club. Once we mention our name at the lobby, we were escorted to the Kings Club lounge on the 9 floor. The lounge is a private space with tables and sofas that looks out to the ocean with a pantry of snacks, a fridge full of drinks and a check-in counter. Guests are given badges as keys to the room and are called stars. Like when you are in a concerted you are given badges to get in the back stage.

The composer suite is one living room and one bed room. The room we got had a very big photo of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. It is well equipped all the standard amenities and large windows. The balcony provides very nice views of the sea and north Pattaya area.  The TV system is pretty nice, an all day rock channel. It can also connect the net with a remote keyboard.

What makes this hotel outstanding and memorable is not the just memorabilia but also the activities. On a Saturday at the pool there are free activities for the guest both young and old all day long. There is rock climbing, water polo, various games. The daily Village People dance by the staff entertainers in the afternoon started a party vibe. Everyone started to dance when hearing the note “It’s fun to stay in the YMCA…”. And everything picks up after, more games and competitions, a mini concert, and a foam party for both kids and adults. I have to admit foam parties are fun. There is also another foam party later at night just for adults. After dinner there is one more activity. A series of shows performed by the young talent guest and the staff entertainers.  With very little time to prepare the show went pretty well and entertaining.  Being in many hotels and resorts around the country, this is a unique experience for the fun and young at heart.
