Romance of the Grotesque Art Exhibition At Parichart Court, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok

| July 19, 2012

A native of Bangkok, 32-year-old Thai artist, PommJitpratuk received most of his educational grounding in England and Australia, studying a Foundation Art Diploma at Wimbledon School of Art and graduating with a BA in Graphic design from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London. His fifth solo exhibition since returning to Thailand, Romance of the Grotesque,Pomm presents his most provocative series of explicitly charged paintings to date.

Inspired by western occult symbolism, Pomm’s finite linear paintings in acrylic and India Ink on paper of women explore the young artist’s fantastical imagination. Flirting with the dark side of the psyche, Pomm’s graphic creations revel in the imperfect and the bizarre.  Influenced by the 19th century illustrations of Aubrey Beardsley who challenged the conservative repression of Victorian Britain, these idiosyncratic and highly detailed paintings are intimate and in a world of their own.

Romance of the Grotesque will be on display at Four Season Hotel Bangkok, Parichart Court, from July 4 – August 31, 2012. Four Season Hotel Bangkok is open daily and is located at 155 Rajadamri Road, Bangkok 10330 Thailand. BTS Rajadamri. Tel. 66 (0) 2 126-8866
