Shanxi Wines Meets Refined Culinary at The Reflexions Plaza Athenee Bangkok

| June 27, 2013

Intriguing discoveries and subtle experiences await  open-minded  wining + dining devotees. Inspired by the informed interest of its regular dinners and wine enthusiasts, The Reflexions French contemporary restaurant at Plaza Athénée, a Royal Méridien Hotel,  is planning another wine dinner with a difference on this coming American Independence Day, 4 July.

The forward-looking home of haute cuisine and surprising wines, recently awarded a prestigious TripAdvisor 2013 Certificate of Excellence and Thailand Tatler Best Restaurant 2013 award, will once again push the boundaries of gastronomic experience into new territories.

Ensuring unique experiences for those partaking, as usual for The Reflexions, the entire culinary event is conceived from scratch as a one-off celebration of the art of refined wining & dining.  As such, it will mark another memorable milestone in the restaurant’s storied history of creating sensational dishes and complementing them with the world’s most interesting vintages.

On this occasion, Grace Vineyard, in China’s Shanxi Province, which has been making telling inroads among knowing international cognoscenti of out-performing wineries, provides the inspiration for The Reflexions passionate Chef de Cuisine Daniel Bucher to work his culinary magic.

Boasting exceptional expertise with single grape variety wines and blended wines, the winery has recently broken ground by introducing its first Reserve Series of premium wines which are to be featured at the Wine Dinner. Primarily using fruits from the most recent harvests, the wines are cellared for up to 10 months in old oak barrels before release. Premium Cabernet Merlot, with slight oak aromas and complex texture, is especially smooth to the palate.

Chef Daniel has determined to match the unique qualities of the wines with his culinary creations both for originality and impact. The three-course menu offers two choices for each course, as followings:

1.       Tiger Prawns Duo Sea Weed Caviar, Baby Green Salad with Citrus   or

Poultry Consommé with Black Truffle, Duck Liver Ravioli with Mushroom.

2.       Seared Sea Bream Meuniere, Whelk and Artichoke Fricassee, Parsley Jus Reduced or

Beef Brisket Braised, Parsnip Puree and Young Vegetables, Virgin Jus.

3.       Valrhona Chocolate Mousse and Raspberry with Red Fruit Sherbet or

Mango Parfait with Tahitian Vanilla, Coconut ice Cream.

Wine choices include a Sparkling, a White and a Red: Pierlant Blanc de Blanc, Vin Mousseux, France N.V., Grace “Vineyard Series” Chardonnay, and Grace “Vineyard Series” Cabernet Sauvignon, respectively.

The unique opportunity to taste the news-making vintages from China perfectly paired with the specially prepared degustation menu promises fresh perspectives and new discoveries. Those with a keen appreciation of fine cuisine and ground-breaking wines served in a venue that, as its name suggests, delights the eyes and provides exceptional service, may expect a special , memorable and even educational evening.
